Abstract:
As competition gets tougher and tougher, companies have to implement new management systems to stay efficient. Along business performance monitoring application, executive information systems, decision support systems and Business Intelligence (BI) systems help managers to lead their companies successfully and survive into the future. Successful companies rely on BI applications to provide decision makers with the information they need. BI is essentially a decision-support activity that includes the analysis of information and dissemination of the results across the entire organization. It enables the integration of the business transactions, the collaboration across the organization and the development of an intelligent framework. When these activities are done, the information can be delivered to anyone, anytime and anywhere. BI systems are interactive, flexible and adjustable and offer support in solving business problems, meant to improve the decision and decision processes. A flexible BI system enables the company to become more efficient and profitable. It provides capabilities for complex analyses to judge correctly the health of the business, to appreciate the risks and opportunities in the market and to make proper decisions.
The paper presents the purpose and the scope of a BI system in a financial company. It introduces a system architecture capable of providing efficient solutions to answer the business problems in a bank and to help making better decisions and details the dashboard applications. The paper also presents the necessity of a customer-based strategy and emphasizes the way a customer relationship management system can help achieving this goal.
