Abstract:

The relational model has proved, in time, his viability and his accuracy. Relational databases are the most commonly used type of data storage. This is due, in large part, to the fact that the simplicity of the storage principles offers users greater flexibility. Also, the table-like structures map easily to real-life data formats such as forms and spreadsheets. This paper defines the core concepts of relational model and explains the some fine and significant features of relational modelling, like functional, multivalued and join dependencies.
