Abstract:
The Information Age is by definition extremely dynamic, competitive, and characterized by a very alert rhythm of change and continuous technological progress. In the new world of business, organizations are becoming more and more aware of the importance of knowledge as an essential driver and a key factor in value creation. Knowledge management lays on the need for organizations to more effectively manage all types of resources in the global economy, and information represents the core of knowledge management, since information combined with experience, learning and intuition leads to knowledge. The paper aims to provide an understanding of the critical role of knowledge and information in business and society and to outline some of IBM’s best practices in an integrated knowledge management approach that includes both information technology and human capital. The main objectives of the paper were achieved by literature review combined with a case study.
