Abstract:
This paper is meant to be an approach of some well-known data warehouse modeling and design techniques. The way to better understand the design issues also requires pointing out to a real case as that of Supporting Higher Education Management. Each paragraph of this paper is almost a metaphor for a characteristic problem: declaring the core process, the grain, the dimensions and the facts, schema extensibility, dimension respectively fact table optimization and the surrogate key requirements.
