Abstract:
The WEB offers more and more opportunities in vast areas such as artificial intelligence, natural language processing and logic programming: the semantic WEB, mining of information on the internet and the logic of web applications are just a few examples. The recent applications of logic programming languages focus on their integration in the development of web applications. Prolog and its modern succesors are very powerfull tools for the representation, search and analysis of information, due to its mathematical background. The present research aims to bring a contribution in the area of integrated systems for the management of data, information and knowledge. The research will focus on the solutions for the integration of data bases and knowledge bases, the use of logic programming languages in the development of WEB applications, and also the trends regarding the integration of expert systems and decision support systems. The article will take into account the existing systems and technologies, with their advantages and drawbacks.
